5. Installing the Ink Cartridges

Filling with Ink for the First Time

Special procedures are required when installing ink cartridges for the rst time. These are required only once,

when installing ink cartridges for the rst time after shipment from the factory. Firstly, clean the print heads

with the cleaning cartridges, and then ll with the inks of each color. This operation requires two UNUSED SOL

INK cleaning cartridges and six dummy cartridges.

* For SOL INK cleaning cartridges and ink cartridges, be sure to use new ones.

* Never, under any circumstances, use anything other than the specied type of ink or cleaning uid.

* When using this machine with 7 ink colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, light cyan, light magenta, and

light black ), one dedicated cleaning cartridge (ESL4-CL) for ECO-SOL MAX2 is required. To order ESL4-CL,

contact your authorized Roland DG Corp. dealer or us.

Installing the Ink Cartridges

During cleaning, you need to insert and remove cartridges several times. The on-screen messages tell you when or

which cartridge to be inserted or removed. The SOL INK cleaning cartridges are not dierentiated by color.

Insert each color ink cartridge into the slot labeled with the matching color. If you insert wrong car-

tridges when lling ink, the condition cannot be restored easily. Contact your authorized Roland DG

Corp. dealer, if you lled ink with wrong cartridges inserted.

Be sure to follow the on-screen in-

structions for insertion and removal.

 Insert in the direction shown in the gure.

 Insert and remove slowly, one at a time.

 Insert rmly, as far as it will go.
